Shigenobu Twilight

Today I went to Ooga Booga to interview Wendy Yao for Bunker Hill Magazine. In the store I tried on the most amazing perfume called Shigenobu Twilight, named after Japanese Red Army leader Fusako Shigenobu, aka “Mata Hari.”

According to legend, Shigenobu once ruthlessly ordered a pregnant comrade to be buried alive under the floorboards of a house after the woman was deemed “too bourgeois” because she asked for a paper napkin. She went on to commit all manner of political terrorism, including joining forces with the PFLP to “consolidate the international revolutionary alliance against the imperialists of the world.” She also ordered the killing of a bunch of Puerto Rican tourists at an airport in Tel Aviv and made a film called Revolutionary War Declared.

I really really want that perfume.
